70 Arthur Street (R.J. Whitla & Company Building) New Steam Boiler Room
70 Arthur Street is a turn of the century (1899) Winnipeg Exchange District building. This seven storey historical building wasoriginally used as a warehouse and since the 1930s as offices. Heavy timber post and lintel construction presented particular challenges when routing new internal fire rated shaft and chimney through all floors to the roof. As a historic building all works required an 'historic permit' when creating a new state of the art boiler room on the lower level.
