With accessibility standards rising for educational buildings in Manitoba, Amphora is taking part in retrofitting several existing schools with new grooming rooms. Their complex program combines strict hygienic requirements, flexible usage, and a calming atmosphere to provide a private space for accommodating the needs of students that cannot be met in a standard classroom. No two grooming rooms are exactly alike, as each project carries on the character of its school and maximizes the potential of the available area.

Ranging from a bold visual statement to seamless integration, a set of solutions was considered for an accessible entryway to a Winnipeg elementary school. This was complimented by the inclusion of a new elevator and a revamp of the school’s circulation spaces to accommodate wheelchair access, ensuring that all spaces within the school are fully accessible for every student.
